Daniel Bryan proved himself to be an A-plus player once and for all when he defeated Triple H at the start of the night and then made Batista submit to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania XXX.

Bryan’s journey to the top was not an easy one, fighting through a shoulder injury suffered at the hands of Triple H prior to arriving in New Orleans.

Bryan avenged the assault when he knocked out Triple H with his “Knee Plus” running knee strike in the first match of the pay-per-view, which earned him a spot in Batista and Randy Orton’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship bout.

With a record-setting 75,000 fans in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome behind him, Bryan valiantly fought through his injury as best he could and looked to be seconds from victory when he trapped Randy Orton in the Yes Lock, until Triple H made his second appearance of the evening.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon entered through the crowd and quickly dragged the referee out of the ring before Orton could tap out. The Authority then had the official replaced with their own hand-picked referee, Scott Armstrong, the man responsible for screwing Bryan out of the WWE Championship in 2013.

Bryan hastily roundhouse kicked Armstrong into unconsciousness, and leapt from the ring with a suicide dive to take out The Authority when Triple H and Stephanie tried to revive their referee.

Triple H grabbed his trademark sledgehammer but Bryan wrestled it from him and blasted the COO with the foreign object to definitively remove him from the match, drastically increasing his chances of victory.

Batista and Randy Orton realised it was in their best interests to team up momentarily and take out Bryan, which resulted in a devastating Batista Bomb/RKO combination from one commentary table through another, and WWE officials rushed in with a stretcher to get Bryan medical attention.

The WWE Universe began to boo as Bryan was stretchered up the entrance way. Meanwhile, Batista and Orton smashed one another against the ring steps and security barricade at ringside, desperately looking to take advantage of their one-on-one contest.

Bryan fought his way off the stretcher and hobbled back to the ring, 75,000 New Orleans fans cheering him on, in time to catch Orton in the Yes Lock moments after the Viper knocked down Batista.

Batista broke the hold just before Orton could tap and all three men began to trade signature moves, with no one managing to get the victory.

Batista eventually cut Orton down with a spear that made Orton roll out of the ring, giving Bryan the ultimate opportunity to catch Batista with his “Knee Plus” running knee.

Bryan then applied the Yes Lock to the Animal, and Batista tapped out.

Confetti fell from the ceiling of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as Bryan was handed the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belts. Members of Bryan’s family then joined him in the ring as the 75,000 in attendance unanimously chanted “Yes” in celebration.
