What was originally scheduled to be a qualifying match for the main event of IPW’s final event of the year, Nightmare B4 Xmas, turned out to be the main event itself when James Shaw and Jakob Cross collided in the annual Fans Bring the Weapons match.

With Travis Banks absent—and Daniel Burnell giving Banks an opportunity to explain himself in January—the Investment leader announced Cross would take Banks’ place as the guaranteed entrant in Fans Bring the Weapons. Investment hopeful Taylor Adams would face Shaw in the qualifying match, Mr Burnell announced, with the winner facing Cross in Fans Bring the Weapons for the number one contendership to the IPW Championship.

Despite the change in opponent, Shaw put Adams away with relative ease thanks to a DVD.

Things would prove much harder in the Fans Bring the Weapons contest. Weapons ranged from the comedic (including a miniature Christmas tree, and a National Party billboard) to the ultraviolent (including a board wrapped in barbed wire, and thumbtacks) and Cross and Shaw used them all, which left both men bleeding by the end of the night.

Shaw used an electric chair drop to slam Cross onto the barbed-wire board. Cross spread a pile of thumbtacks on a table stacked with Christmas gifts and flung Shaw from the entrance stage through the wood.

Ultimately, it was a DVD from Shaw in a ring strewn with fragments of everything the Mt Albert crowd had brought with them that secured the win for the fan-favourite, earning him a match against Fury for the IPW Championship in 2015.
