John Cena’s WrestleMania future remains unknown, but AJ Styles is going to New Orleans, Louisiana as WWE Champion.

Styles overcame five hungry challengers to retain his title in the main event of WWE Fastlane earlier today.

The biggest question heading into the Six-Pack Challenge was whether Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn could work together. Zayn offered to lie down for Owens, only to try a small package pin on his friend. This brought an end to any alliance they may have had for the duration of the match.

Owens tried to superkick Zayn but struck SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon, who was watching the main event from ringside. McMahon broke pinfall attempts for both Owens and Zayn moments later.

(SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan, an ally of Owens and Zayn, was not in Columbus, Ohio for WWE Fastlane.)

Baron Corbin attacked John Cena with the ring steps but was soon slammed on the steel with an Attitude Adjustment. Dolph Ziggler stopped Cena from pinning Corbin and winning a record-breaking 17th world title.

Cena took out Ziggler with another AA before Kevin Owens drilled Cena with a Pop-up Powerbomb.

WWE Championship on the line, AJ Styles flew across the ring and levelled Owens with a Phenomenal Forearm. Styles covered Owens for the win to retain his title and advance to a dream WrestleMania showdown with Royal Rumble winner Shinsuke Nakamura.
