Cage defends against Elgin at Slammiversary

Brian Cage isn’t at 100 percent heading into Slammiversary XVII.

The Impact Wrestling World Champion puts his title on the line against Michael Elgin today, July 8, in Dallas, Texas. However, Cage is still recovering from an injury suffered when he first won the title in April.

“I’m still not 100 percent and there’s still a lot of things that I could normally do that I’m probably not able to do,” Cage admitted, “but I have a vast array of moves in my repertoire and I’m not concerned about it.”

With his mobility compromised, Cage will have to alter his game-plan for Elgin. “The Machine” is confident he can match his opponent strength-for-strength.

“Last time I checked, Big Mike isn’t as big as The Machine so I think I still got a size advantage on ol’ Elgin,” he said.

While Elgin’s attack in April dropped the Impact Wrestling newcomer straight into the title picture, it also served to motivate Cage. Elgin now finds himself challenging an intense, angry champion.

“I kinda just want to take his head off,” Cage revealed. “I think I want to clothesline the crap out of him more than moonsault on top of him.”

Cage concluded: “I’ll make him wish he never left New Japan to begin with.”
