NZPWI Roundtable: WWE Money in the Bank 2020 predictions, preview
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Superstars involved in the 2020 Money in the Bank Ladder Matches will “climb the corporate ladder” en route to retrieving a life-changing briefcase.

For the first time in its 15-year history, the Money in the Bank Ladder Match will be held at WWE Corporate Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, with a ring and a collection of ladders set up on the roof of Titan Tower.

WWE Superstars will have to battle their way through 11 storeys of WWE’s day-to-day operations before making it to the Money in the Bank set-up.

Who does this sort of scenario favour? Join the NZPWI Roundtable as we break down the card for WWE Money in the Bank 2020.

* * *

Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match:
AJ Styles vs. Aleister Black vs. Daniel Bryan vs. King Corbin vs. Otis vs. Rey Mysterio

Grady Hooker (88% accurate for 2020):
I want to pick Otis here, but I worry he might get distracted or try to get the female briefcase for Mandy Rose instead, so I’ll go with the dark and mysterious Aleister Black knocking out every other competitor.
Winner: Aleister Black

David Dunn (75% accurate for 2020):
This year’s Money in the Bank Ladder Matches will be unlike any other, but once the WWE Superstars make their way to the roof of Titan Tower, things will look a little more familiar. If there’s one man who’s tailor-made for a ladder match environment, and with a huge WrestleMania setback to overcome, it’s AJ Styles.
Winner: AJ Styles

Sammy G (50% accurate for 2020):
This is going to be chaotic fun! Money in the Bank has historically led to some exciting times for whoever holds the briefcase. I’m totally fine with whoever grabs it this year, but I’m backing Aleister Black!
Winner: Aleister Black

Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match:
Asuka vs. Carmella vs. Dana Brooke vs. Lacey Evans vs. Nia Jax vs. Shayna Baszler

Grady:
The obvious pick here is Shayna Baszler, but I’m going to go off the wall and take my girl Dana Brooke. She has been impressing me lately and I think she has the athleticism to reach the top first.
Winner: Dana Brooke

David:
Contradicting my thought-process on the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, if Nia Jax can destroy her opponents before anyone even makes it to the rooftop, she’ll have all the time in the world to climb the ladder and claim that briefcase for herself.
Winner: Nia Jax

Sammy:
Shayna Baszler didn’t have the “WrestleMania Moment” that many of us had hoped for against The Man. Maybe redemption awaits her in the form of Money in The Bank?
Winner: Shayna Baszler

Universal Championship:
Braun Strowman (c) vs. Bray Wyatt

Grady:
The Fiend has only been stopped by Goldberg, and Braun Strowman could put down Goldberg, so by the transient property of mathematic functions Braun Strowman should be able to defeat The Fiend… but he won’t.
Winner: Bray Wyatt

David:
I’m not sure why Bray Wyatt isn’t tagging in “The Fiend” for this one, but even if he did I doubt he’d overcome the Universal Champion.
Winner: Braun Strowman

Sammy:
Strowman has come a long way since being the muscle of The Wyatt Family. But The Eater of Worlds-turned-Mr-Rogers-type Wyatt has a lot more going on in his head and will still have a few tricks up his sleeves to level the big man.
Winner: Bray Wyatt

WWE Championship:
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Seth Rollins

Grady:
I cannot pick against Drew McIntyre. This guy is the bigger man and the stronger man – he will crush any hopes that The Messiah has of getting the WWE Championship back.
Winner: Drew McIntyre

David:
Beating Seth Rollins won’t be easy – but neither was overcoming Brock Lesnar and Big Show in the same night, and Drew McIntyre did that…
Winner: Drew McIntyre

Sammy:
The Royal Rumble showed us that when McIntyre is focused on a goal, he will achieve it. This is the year of McIntyre, and no “Monday Night Messiah” is going to stop him!
Winner: Drew McIntyre

SmackDown Women’s Championship:
Bayley (c) vs. Tamina

Grady:
Tamina has really shown that she stands a chance in this title fight, when I wouldn’t have thought that a few months ago. I still don’t think she is better than Bayley, but she should put up a good fight.
Winner: Bayley

David:
It’s not that I don’t back Bayley on her own, but knowing Sasha Banks will be around too makes Bayley retaining all the more likely.
Winner: Bayley

Sammy:
It took all of the competitors at WrestleMania to eliminate Tamina from the match. Now it’s just Bayley facing off against Tamina one-on-one – this going to be an interesting watch, and could be Tamina’s night!
Winner: Tamina

SmackDown Tag Team Championship:
The New Day (c) vs. The Forgotten Sons vs. John Morrison & The Miz vs. Lucha House Party

Grady:
The New Day has the momentum. Miz and Morrison are having a bit of a spat. Lucha House Party are not the most relevant right now. So I will go off the wall and take the new (to the main roster) team of The Forgotten Sons.
Winners: The Forgotten Sons

David:
It’s always volatile and unpredictable when you have multiple teams involved in a match, but that’s the game we’re in with the NZPWI Roundtable! New Day have seen it all, done it all, and should win it all at Money in the Bank.
Winners: The New Day

Sammy:
The Forgotten Sons have certainly put themselves in a prime position since debuting on the blue brand – already getting their first match on pay-per-view for the tag titles. However, three words sum up my thoughts on the winners of the match: New Day Rocks!
Winners: The New Day
