WWE today announced the 12 Superstars who will compete to become the new World Heavyweight Champion at the end of May.
Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest, Finn Balor, The Miz, Seth Rollins, and Shinsuke Nakamura will represent Raw.
AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Bobby Lashley, Edge, Rey Mysterio, and Sheamus will compete for SmackDown.
Of the 12 Superstars selected, 10 have held world titles before.
As announced during the Backlash Press Conference, two triple threat matches will take place on Raw with the winners facing off that same night. The same scenario will happen on SmackDown.
The winners from both brands will meet in a tournament final at Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The need for a new World Heavyweight Champion comes after Roman Reigns was drafted to SmackDown, taking the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship with him.
