WWE Backlash 2025 predictions, preview – NZPWI Roundtable

Undisputed WWE Championship:
John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton

AJ Murtagh (85% accurate in 2025):
John Cena is operating on a level we’ve never seen before. Defeating Orton in his hometown in the least satisfying way possible for the fans will satisfy Cena, and that’s what I see happening.
Winner: John Cena

Steve McCleary (78% accurate in 2025):
John Cena is going to show Randy Orton that what goes around comes around, even if it’s a decade later — he’s going to punch Orton in the balls and get disqualified. Retains the title, ruins wrestling. Too easy.
Winner: Randy Orton

Grady Hooker (78% accurate in 2025):
It’s a classic clash, but with a modern lens. In his final year, I reckon it’s going to be quite hard to wrestle the WWE Championship out of the grasp of John Cena. Orton is going to be the first to try, and also the first to fail.
Winner: John Cena

David Dunn (78% accurate in 2025):
We’re turning back the clocks with this one, but surely not fully re-writing the history books? Cena has pretty much always had Orton’s number, and you don’t really forget that stuff.

Sammy G (75% accurate in 2025):
Cena’s final year as an active wrestler 100% feels like “Bizzaro World”! Never did I think that we would see Dark-Side Cena facing off against a babyface Randy Orton, but here we are, and Cena could be the personification of karma for Randy’s past sins.
Winner: John Cena
