I thought that film was great! I like a nice dark comedy and Dylan Moran is always awesome :)

I watched a bunch of films yesterday and while it causes me physical pain to say this, New Moon was the best of the lot. No seriously. We watched some baaad films. Red Sand was terrible, Paranormal Activity was a huge waste of time, and Perkin's 14 was terrible which surprised me a bit as most of the After Dark films are alright if not brilliant. I guess we shouldn't have Dr Who first thing as it obviously set the bar too high for the rest of the day.

Watched Ice Twisters yesterday.

It was pretty damn terrible.

I'd hoped it would be ridiculous enough that I could enjoy laughing at it, but most of it was just shit without being mock-worthy.

None of the characters were at all likeable. It made it really difficult to get behind the supposed "heroes" of the film when they were unappealing fuckwits. The lead guy was the most annoying smarmy git on the planet and I'm supposed to not want him to be violently killed? :eyecrazy:

3/10 - Do not watch.

I watched Clash of the Titans. Not as bad as Ive heard - its not going to blow you away or anything, but its a solid popcorn flick. Sam Worthington continues to be 'there' in these huge movies. It could have done with a bit more breathing space between the big set pieces to explain a bit more - but the action itself its pretty cool. Liam Neeson and one of the Fiennes are awesome as Zeus and Hades - but the other gods were woefully underused - I think only Appollo gets named.

Plus Im a mark for Greek Mythology - and I just finished God of War 3. Overload.

Next up is Kick-Ass.

That'll be Ralph Fiennes.

He's the awesome one, rather than the pretty one.

Whoever it was he was hamming it up brilliantly. Kinda using a whispering Bale Batman voice - and sporting a hilarious receding hairline. I think he added a hunch back as well for shits and giggles.

Ah apparently it is an R18.

I had just seen an ad for it on TV and it made it look like a kids movie.

They are making a sequel to the Hangover, with the same cast.

Also for anyone who has read the Tomorrow series by John Marsden, they are making movies (I assume it's plural) of these, which should be interesting. Geoff from Home and Away is in it.

Just saw a pre-screening of Kick Ass.
Man that was a random film  Can't say i loved it, but can't really say i hated it either....it did have a few funny moments.

Its just so random, its a mix of genres at once.....some over the top shit then super serious etc.

I dunno if i liked it or not, its weird. A def 5.5/10 till i decide.

I saw Boy today.

The first five minutes are hilarious! Just as you expect from hearing or seeing the promos on the tv or radio.

The rest... well it sucked IMO. There were funny bits throughout but was pretty crap storyline wise. Not even close to being worthy of all the hot shit reviews its getting IMO. The real downside to me was that there's not even a real purpose in the plot. A boy meets his dad and tries to find some money in the backyard. Great. I don't wanna spoil too much but the plot kinda ends half way in which makes the rest kind of meaningless.

Oh, and the end was random and abrupt.

It annoys me because it has SO much potential. That first 5 mins was CRACKUP. Oh well.

EDIT: Must comment on the acting. Bloody brilliant! Those kids are legends.

I dunno if this has been posted in here yet but this could be potentially the most awesome thing ever, not just in movies in everything. It could also be potentially be the worst movie ever.

I enjoyed Kick Ass. I didn't find it funny though. At all. That was the worst bit, because you know those films that have a bunch of dialogue in them that you're aware is intended to be funny, yet when you hear them you actually think, "wow, that was supposed to be funny and it totally wasn't. Listen to all these people laughing. They have a terrible sense of humour"? And you say that to yourself in your head as you're watching it? That was Kick Ass.

Weird mix of genre's and overlapping concepts too. That didn't work for me. I can't tell if it was film making that was mysteriously good enough to be completely above my limited understanding of film, or if it was just flat out dire film making. I'm leaning towards the latter. But I still thought it was fun. I don't even know why. Possibly just because I realised that I'm gayer than fuck for McLovin. Which is hilarious and unsettling, amongst other things.
