Matt Fucking Sydal!!

Shelton lifts up Matt in a gorilla press and lands a gut buster. Shelton stomps away and throws Matt hard into the turnbuckle, where he flips. Shelton locks in an armbar, but Matt fights out and walks into a clothesline. Shelton chucks Matt Sydal out to the floor right in front of Kofi. Shelton comes out and jaw jacks with Kofi. Kofi slaps Shelton, so Shelton takes matt and throws him into Kofi. He rolls in to win via countout as Kofi rolls into the ring to take the fight to Shelton. Shelton with a hard throw into the steps. Shelton stalks Kofi as the referee gets in between the two men. Shelton heads to the back as Kofi holds his shoulder.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin by countout

Looks like this, and with same reaction probably!

Sydal could easily be made into a star. When you let a guy go out there and do what he did last ECW, it really opens your eyes as to how their move restrictions affect the fans enjoyment.

Here's this guy with no build at all, debuting on telelvision and he was cheered more than many an 'established' superstar.

Because he is small, therefore unlikely to win a World title ever, I would like to see Sydal join up with someone similar to himself in a rising of the tag team division.

I sympathise with move restrictions, not presuming they do or don't exist. For me, the alternative is far, far worse.

I mean... what happens when you even consider the Canadian Destroyer to be "just another finisher"? Or the 450? Deserving of a small pop or a polite golfclap? Which is pretty much the situation as it stands. Where does raising the bar end?

There's a lot to be said with telling stories effectively rather than trying to land a double moonsault.

Defintly, Wrestlers are always trying to one up themselves so putting a bar on that so they don't end up killing themselves is also a good reason.

Plus like James said it means you enjoy it so much more when someone does do it and forces the wrestlers to put more emphasis on story telling. Remember a couple of years ago when we had the Hardcore 24/7 rule etc and it was every where and thus had to do bigger and bigger spots then they cut the hardcore title etc and now people pop for a table once again.

Hmmmm Just watched ECW highlights on wwe.com, so this is a spoiler, but Evan Bourne uses a Shooting Star Press??? I thought they were banned on WWE??

Maybe they let him, as he is awesome at it??

Oh fuck that match was great. Seriously, everyone watch ECW for it. Matt Striker is brilliant, that guy could easily carry a mid-card title or form a fine tag team with someone.

Sydal is a prime example of what WWE needs to do, IMO. Remove some of their move restrictions and bring in more indy talent. To an extent, WWE are lacking stars and I reckon the sooner they snap them up before TNA does, the better. WWE market their wrestlers better and can turn almost anyone into a star. Indy talents will get over very quickly in WWE if they are given opportunity and so far Sydal has made the most of his.

Looking forward to more of this guy, that's for sure. Got to say though, his debut being earlier than Colts is a bit suspect.

That match was awesome!!

I especially loved how he grabbed his feet as he did the shooting star press - I realyl liek Evan Bourne - I wonder how a tag team of him and Shannon Moore could go - flipping and flopping all over the show would be like the hey day of WCW's cruiserweight's.

I don't have 24 inch pythons, the set didn't work.

Yeah, that match was my wrestling highlight of the week. It was the most interested i've been in wrestling in ages.

Makes perfect sense too. If they injure themselves (which really isn't that likely) then the company isn't robbed of it's all important RAW main eventers.
Plus it gives a reason for the word 'extreme' in the show title.

It would also mean i'd only have to watch one show a week, knowing that i'll see most of the people i like.

Nothing like the old ECW, but I get your point. Theres a lot of fresh faces on the show, which makes it interesting to watch. Tony Atlas is back too, the guy is still in incredible shape, last time I saw him on youtube. Chris Harris debuting also intrigues me, apparently Ron killings will debut at Smackdown.
