So it seems Movie Thread has been locked away in Dions basement.
As it was such a enjoyable read for many, here comes the Sequel. Now with less popcorn.

Went & saw Alice in Wonderland with the family yesterday.
Had little intention of enjoying myself, something I didnt need to struggle at it seems.
The movie was utter crap from start to finish, though I know I am by far not the ideal audience for this, but hell they could of given something in the way of entertainment to keep my interest, at least for a few minutes. Yes... I am that important, I simply demand Hollywood add a little something for my benefit in each of thier releases.

Tim Burton movies are an aquired taste to be sure & this story seemed made for his style of movie making, it is after all a fucked up mind hump of a tale no matter who is telling it.
Why so negative ?
Ok, the plus's

Depp was his typical Wacky...Batty...kid friendly self & Matt Lucus was amusing in the small role he played. The End.

Dilly, Erich & Aimee all enjoyed the movie so that was ultimately all that mattered & to be honest, I needed an excuse to nap a little & not have an age gag tossed my way as a result... mission achieved.

3/10

Why was the old thread closed anyway....

Watch Moon a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Um, oh and JCVD which made me fall asleep.

I'm sure it was closed because it was called MoviesvJBI. And since JBI = Chris Benoit, the thread was removed but i could be wrong.

I watched GI Joe and the rise of the cobras, or whatever it's called...to be honest I wasn't feeling the best, bit of a cold, and I kept falling asleep but I still kept up with the story and it didn't seemed to matter that I missed 10/15 minutes here and there. Not sure if thats a good or bad thing.
Very average/10

I had no intention to see Avatar but Alice in Wonderland was booked out. Long story short, this is not nearly as bad as I heard it was. In fact, it wasn't even actively bad, it was just sort of mindless actiony junk, and it went on maybe a little longer than it needed to given how much substance it had.

Like a KENTA match.

Also, Na'vi; is this Furry? I don't actually care just so you know. I would violently wreck one of those girls either way. Just curious.

Yeah....but what upcoming movie ISN'T in 3D....

I watched Drag me to Hell last week as well....aside from all the Nickelodeon Goo being thrown everywhere - it was pretty ok. <3ed the ending.

3D is a stay of execution for the movie industry that I reckon will last 12-18 months. The problem will come when the public on the whole shift back to downloading movies, and Hollywood realises its spent a fuckload of extra money turning horrible films into 3D.

They're even doing post 3d on a lot of films....so stuff that was never intended for 3d treatment gets it anyway. Like Clash of the Titans.

I blame Avatar. I also blame Avatar for world hunger and global warming.

Lulz :P

I don't actually have a major problem with Avatar. It's a shitload better than most of the stuff that Michael Bay put out - Transformers 2, for instance, was actually offensive. However, there is no way on God's green Earth that it deserves the best picture nod. I suspect it's going to go Bigelow best director, Avatar best film... whereas really, I think it should go the other way.

Agreed on all of that. Cameron not getting best Director would be a bit of a rip (although he sounds like a dick to work for).

Transformers was offensive - but Avatar had all that bullshit swaying to the earth mother - and forcibly raping the native creatures.

Not sure who should win best picture (although Avatar may have bought its win a long time ago)...but I enjoyed most of the ones Ive seen from the list.

Miserable weather on the weekend so did a bit of catching up.

Zombieland was cool and funny. Adventureland, less so. Paper Heart was aiming to be meta but was mostly just confused. Year One had its moments but those moments started getting further and further apart as it went on.

Watch From Paris with Love
It was weird seeing John Travolta transform himself into Bruce Willis. He looks totally different bald.
A totally unrealistic action/ thriller, that seems intent on speeding its way through not only scenes, but also the development of its two leads.
In the span of little more than 30 minutes they met, discover just how "Odd" a couple they make, share in a bit of blood letting, come to each others aid, share a laugh or two before switching gears & begin to talk to each other like long standing friends, while dining out on Micky Ds.
The story is simple to follow & a game of "Spot the plot holes" makes for easy work along the way.

Finished watching Legion today... at last.
Damn, what a stupid movie.
On paper it seems like a great idea for a movie, but played out it is really nothing more than a promising tale let down by its own restrictions.
It came across very much like a B movie in not only delivery but in the actual effects provided... which I honestly assumed would of been of a higher standard due to the story that is being told.
There were a few highlights, most of which are easlierly viewed in the trailers.
The main problem I had with this movie is the sense you get along the way that the people who become, for lack of a better word, "Possessed" seem to get easier to kill as the movie progresses, to the point that you are lead to believe a disapproving glare would prove effective in laying these guys out.

3/10

Right.
Now I'm off to watch The Horseman.

I probably wont watch it either, I will add that with the Twilight movies. I will watch Hurt Locker though, seeing as it pwned Avatar at the Oscars.
