Dude, give it up. Your initial point was wrong. I have proven that. Be gracious in defeat.

Also, nice pussy.

How epic would this argument be in person, with players slamming lolcats pics onto the table like a Pokemon battle

Yeah, new mobo & chipset, HDD, RAM, Videocard and Bluray drive.

I know this sounds rather stupid, but is there an AMD equivalent :P

Ziph.

Question. Whenever I start my computer it plods along and then when the fan kicks in (CPU?) it beeps three times and I have to restart to actually get it to work. Also it is slow as for the first 10-15 minutes after start up. Slow mouse, things taking a while to respond, 100% CPU usage etc. And also I have a constant probably with videos weather its played via youtube or player where its slow and stuttering. It al usually goes away after my comp has been on for 45min - hour.

Not stupid. For the same sort of money you can get a six core CPU. Better in multithreaded apps, but slower overall.
Plus side, is if you combine an AMD CPU, motherboard and GPU, you can tell people you have a Dragon PC. +10 Geek Points!

You can take what I say if you like but I'm sure Ziph will agree with me :P , the 3 beeps on start up is generally a hardware error, check to make sure your RAM, and Graphics card if dedicated are seated correctly, you can always remove and reseat them.

It you do have a dedicated graphics card remove it and see if you have the same problems.Going on that your Graphics card is dedicated make sure the Power supply is enough to power the Graphics card too. Also do a virus scan and make sure you have at least 18% disk space on you Primary Hard drive.

you can also run msconfig from the run command and turn off everything under start up to see if that makes a difference too.

Failing any of this working get a hardware diagnostics done on your system, no point in doing a clean install on your hard drive until this is done cause if the hard drive is defective then you will eventually will run into the same problems

I'm putting this to rest as we both have valid points and invalid points, but together have an agreed outcome on limitations.

You play a nice game Ziph, lets hope we can both help the people. :)

But of course don't in general use msconfig to control start up programs.

Isn't telling someone to turn off everything in start up via msconfig like a realllllllly bad idea?

Well no you should be able to do this through the program itself.

No not at all, it's the services you want to be wary off, Turning off programs in startup under msconfig is perfectly fine, and can help eliminate problem programs that slow down the initial boot of your pc (loading into Windows to your desktop).

The only disadvantage it has is that the program that has been turned off just takes a little longer to startup when it is run.

Yeh the services is prolly more what i mean as the realllly bad idea thing, should use services.msc for that anyway.

But using msconfig to control start ups long term is a bad idea also, sure its good to eliminate what may be slowing you down etc (its what its basically there for) but long term its not the best way to control them.

No not at all, but in the same sense you can turn off the likes of Adobe products and Skype, MSN, Yahoo messaging programs etc without causing any issue.

One more thing I forgot to ask it what anti virus are you using??

There are a few that use a lot of system resources McAfee, and Norton 360 to name a couple. However with Norton 360 just turn off the pc tune up utility and constant background scanning and you are fine. McAfee is just a resorce hog from the get go.

OK next question.

Graphic card was making noises like a motherfucker so I decide remove it (after trying to get the thing to shut up physically) Anyway removed the card and gave it a good clean because it was full (chocka) full of dust. Popped it back it in got a few beeps but did not display on screen. After this no beeps and no display at all. Fan was not moving at all on graphics card. Assumed it was graphics card. bought a new graphics card today (Geforce 8400 keen for HDMI) but still nothing. What should I check next? someone said battery on mobo.

Any help would be appreciated before i decide I need a new Mobo, cpu or something else.
