I know that's not even technically New Zealand chat, but he beat Slade Mercer in the final, so it may as well have been a New Zealand thing.

The "Trip Hazard" sign is a New Zealand wrestling institution, right up there with "Don't touch the clock".

Other Bringing Down the House thoughts: I think the NZWPW Championship being vacated has actually worked out remarkably well. I was really looking forward to Ben Mana vs. D-Hoya, because you don't often have significant face vs. face matches - the last one I remember in NZWPW would be D-Hoya vs. JC Star at Power Play 6. However, as much as I might like them, they generally just confuse the crowd, because no one seems to like cheering for both guys, but they can't pick a favourite either, so they end up being far too quiet.

D-Hoya's not at 100 per cent either, and he's obviously going to get a title shot further down the road, so there's still a chance we can have him and Ben Mana collide at some stage, if Ben wins the match. And, despite the sort of subtle build towards Hoya and Mana for much of the year, putting Jakob Cross in the match gives it one hell of a backstory. Those two had thier big feud last year that was front page news of one of the local newspapers, Cross beat Mana for the He Toa Cup, there's so much to work with. It'll make my job writing the match preview very easy.

And, in NZWPW, it's a refreshing change to have a backstory sometimes. We've got Project Mayhem vs. The Lost Boys going very nicely, but aside from that, a lot of the matches seem to be just thrown together. Not that there's anything wrong with that - it keeps things fresh and all - but when we've just seen "Shining" Nick Silver and Chad Howard abandon their best of five series, which started out of nowhere as well, it's nice to be able to trace Ben Mana and Jakob Cross' history back for more than a couple of weeks.

Seriously, did we do anything this weekend? I'm not sure how I managed to have such a good time when I really just buggered around for most of it.

One thing I hate about going to a show is that now I really want to see more. BUT TOUGH, 'cause I didn't win the season ticket.

The IPW Women's Championship tournament is underway right now, with Britenay taking on Megan-Kate in a semi-final match. And the title looks oh so good!

I love the metal but don't like the red, and I feel really crap about saying that. But lotsa folks love it.

Im not a huge fan of the IPW logo. Needs a bit of updating I reckon. Kinda reeks of ECW-lite. Even getting rid of the cracks would improve it.
