Not winning Grand Slams is his gimmick!

But yeah, if he was ever going to win a GS, this is easily his best opportunity having confidence and momentum coming off the Olympics win. And especially without Nadal (and now Fed) to worry about. He's really only got to beat Djokovic, and if he ends up losing to someone else, then he's clearly not worthy of winning a GS anyway.

Was hoping Roddick would at least go out in the semis, or something (he was never going to win, obv). He's had a great career though, and at least he can say he won his home Grand Slam in that time. I think the game just evolved so rapidly that his serve and volley game just wasn't going to cut it once Fed and Nadal started dominating.
