The first ppv of 2012 is in the bag, and Sheamus stands tall as the man who'll head to WrestleMania in April. We bring you our thoughts on this year's winner, as well as the show in general.
We also take a page from Triple H's book and evaluate how the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim RAW General Manager, Mr John Laurinaitis, has done with the reins of RAW in his hands.
All this and more in this week's edition of Gimme Five. Write Comment (0 comments) |

The Dresden Dolls swung through New Zealand last week on the
tail end of a sort of reunion tour. If
you’ve never heard of this “Brechtian punk cabaret” outfit, then let me briefly
describe them as the sort of artist whose concerts are greeted by fans with
adulation and leave them with climactic joy. They’re also the sort of artist whose songs are described, in a very
Simon Sweetman review, as “juvenile, undeveloped.” Those reactions are not
contradictory.
Because for the fans, a concert by the duo of Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione is about far more than the music played or the quality of the
songs. The songs are the core, the seed
from which the gathering blooms, but a concert becomes about the interaction,
seeing and being seen by others, by belonging to a group sharing something with
each other and with the stars upon the stage, about a group experience that far
transcends a simple musical concert. It’s a cathartic experience. An all-singing, all-dancing,
great-night-out that, to the outsider can look a bit, well, odd.
A bit like professional wrestling, really. Write Comment (0 comments) |

With Sheamus and Chris Jericho as the final two men in the 25th annual Royal Rumble, The Great White knocked Jericho from the apron with a Brogue Kick to secure a world championship match at WrestleMania XXVIII.
Sheamus entered the Royal Rumble as number 22, and made an impact quickly by tossing Kofi Kingston over the top rope.
The Great White set about beating Cody Rhodes and The Miz down with forearm clubs to the chest, and avoided a Zig-Zag from Dolph Ziggler before “Road Dogg” Jesse James made his return to WWE as the Rumble’s 23rd entrant. |

It's the first week after the centennial celebration! What will be the fallout of the failed wedding between Maxine and Johnny Curtis? And how will the WWE Universe react to Titus O'Neil turning on the fans?
The show opened with Titus O'Neil demanding an apology from the WWE Universe. After that didn't work out, he claimed that he did everything that was asked of him, but got nothing in return. This resulted in his best friend, Percy Watson coming out to ask him what he was thinking. Watson said that O'Neil turned his back on both the fans as well as 'Showtime'. Watson then told O'Neil that he sounds exactly like Darren Young. This was too much for O'Neil, so Titus gave Watson a choice; you're with him or against him. After pushing Watson to the mat, NXT Host, Matt Striker, came out to say that the main event would be O'Neil vs. Watson. |
