New NZWPW Champion James Shaw will defend his championship for the first time in a triple threat match at NZWPW Over the Top.

Shaw, who won the title from Johnny Idol in an "I Quit" match at Ngaio Evolution, will face both former champ Idol and number one contender Liam Fury in Wainuiomata on Saturday, June 1.

Also scheduled for Over the Top, "That Young Warrior" Paul Sayers and a partner of his choice will challenge The Circus of Tragedy for NZWPW's tag team titles.

The main event of the evening will be a 20-man battle royal with the winner earning an NZWPW Championship match at Power Play X.

130519_shawJames Shaw is the new NZWPW Champion after forcing Johnny Idol to surrender in an "I Quit" match with the title on the line in last night's main event.

Shaw would be in for an uphill battle at Ngaio Evolution after "Rufguts" Roddy Gunn - former stablemate of both Shaw and the NZWPW Champion - jumped the challenger to Idol's NZWPW title during his entrance.

Gunn choked Shaw out with the straps of his own singlet and dished out a Rufdriver before Johnny Idol made his way to the ring to begin the match.

Idol kept the pressure on Shaw and brawled through the crowd with his challenger before bouncing Shaw's head off a piano in the corner of the Ngaio Town Hall.

Back in the ring, Idol slowed the pace of the match right down with a chinlock designed to squeeze the last bit of energy out of Shaw before forcing him to quit.
