New Zealand's own Shock Therapy defeated Big John Marshall & Coyote (Aus) to capture the MIW Tag Team Championship in Major Impact Wrestling action from the Gold Coast, Australia last night.

Late in the match, Bob & Bill hit Marshall with a 3-D and Bill made the cover, but Coyote came in with the intention of making the save with a big splash. Bill rolled out of the way at the last second and Coyote crushed his partner. Bob & Bill covered both opponents to win the title.

Also on the show, Sweet Ass (NZ) beat Obie (Aus) in a table match when Sweet Ass hit a Stroke off the ring apron and through a table onto the floor to gain the victory.

The event also saw Cruz (NZ) beat Ashe (Aus) in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Both men brawled through the crowd and late in the bout, Cruz hit a legdrop off a table to the floor but only gained a 2 count. He rolled Ashe back into the ring and used a top rope legdrop to gain the 3 count in the middle of the ring.

Other kiwis in action saw H20 (Aus) beat No Rules Champion Jas the Ace (NZ) in a non title No DQ match. Jas used brawling, eye raking and choke holds to wear down his adversary, but H20 used a running splash in the corner and a Samoan Drop onto a steel chair to beat Jas the Ace.

Economist retains; Lucid turns on Valentine at IPW Redemption!
Jul 24, 2005 at 05:36 AM

The Economist once again walked away from the Lynfield YMCA with his championship belt still around his waist, defeating Luke Joshua last night in the main event of IPW Redemption. Joshua was named #1 Contender by IPW this past Thursday and fought hard in front of a strong crowd but just fell short of the victory.

The match was a closely-battled contest that was fought both in and outside the ring, first Luke was thrown over the security barrier right into the crowd and then later Economist swung him upside down repeatedly hitting his head into the steel fencing! Back in the ring Economist went for a powerbomb but Joshua blocked it with a few hard punches and then reversed it into a leg scissor takedown. Luke soon followed up with a DDT and a top-rope Frog Splash but Economist got his foot on the ropes before the three!

The Economist hit back hard with his trademark Roaring Elbow but the referee again stopped the count at two, this time seeing Joshua's foot on the ropes. A frustrated Economist argued with the referee and then delivered a brutal Brainbuster Suplex but somehow Joshua kicked out! Economist then went for the abdominal stretch but Luke reversed it into a hip toss for a two count and then followed with a fisherman's suplex for yet another near fall. Finally, The Economist bounced Joshua off the turnbuckle then hit a second Roaring Elbow to the back of the head as he was crouched over, and this time it was enough for the win.
