An intense night of action at the Lower Hutt town Hall this past Friday was capped off with Island Boy Si retaining his title against The Ram despite repeated interference from Death Sentence (The Ram/The Punisher/Juice/X-Rated) in a wild brawl that had the packed crowd on their feet by the time Phil Woodgate made the 3 count in favor of IBS. From the outset of the match it was obvious IBS had his work cut out for him as the newest stable in NZWPW, Death Sentence made their presence known by surrounding the ring. The Ram took the fight straight to IBS before the opening bell by pounding away on the Island Boy's neck and back. This was short lived as IBS began to fight back nailing Ram with 2 clotheslines and an impressive dropkick causing Ram to head outside and regroup with his buddies. Once back in the ring however IBS continued to dominate the hated superstar until The Ram was able to reverse an irish whip and nail a dropkick to the big mans knee, bringing him to the ground. With IBS now down Ram went to town on his knee with a variety of stomps and kicks and keeping the big man grounded with a chop block. Even going as far to drape IBS's leg over the bottom rope and drop his weight onto the leg almost crushing Si's ankle before locking in a half Boston crab to continue the punishment on the legs of the champ.
With the referee distracted Death Sentence punished the champ further by whipping him into the unforgiving steel steps followed by a gang beat down leaving the champ vulnerable. After the action finally returned to the ring where IBS shocked the crowd with a massive Powerslam but that was only good for a 2 count. The Island Boy followed up with a huge elbow drop and a running leg drop desperately looking for the 3 count. Tired of trying to pin The Ram IBS locked in a reverse chin lock trying to submit the Indian superstar who somehow fought out with a modified stunner that left both men trying to gather their wits on the canvas. Ram followed up with a modified surfboard stretch and a massive DDT just planting the champ on his head. This was still not enough to keep the champ down and in desperation The Ram nailed another massive kick that sent IBS to the outside and into the waiting arms of The Punisher who sent him spine first into the ring post multiple times before throwing him back into the ring, but the champ refused to stay down. After arguing with Juice over an apparent slow count The Ram turned round just in time to be introduced to Island Time (Uranage) which was enough for IBS to take the win and retain the title yet again. After the bell however The Punisher brutally attacked the champ until Inferno hit the ring to make the save and together both men left Death Sentence heading to the locker room with their tails between their legs. Also on the card Juice bet Inferno in a fast paced back and forth battle, which ended when Juice nailed Inferno with his patented Simply Squeezed (Roll The Dice). Earlier in the night Martin Stirling made the groundbreaking announcement that possible Ex WWE superstars could be joining the NZWPW roster in the future and an upcoming tour for NZWPW. Ivan Druganov also began his community service to get his citizenship by announcing for the Chrome vs. Disturbed however Max Damage assaulted him and challenged him to a match later in the show which ended in a double count out after Damage refused to throw Druganov back in the ring and bounced his head off the steel stairs and even used his own flag against the proud Russian kiwi. It is safe to say this rivalry has only just begun. The show also saw the return of Rip Morgan (who replaced the injured Butch miller) in a stand off with Death Sentence mid-ring and threatened to revoke their contracts if they had not left by the time he counted to five. Match Results NOS .def Dangerous Dan "The Man" Stirling In the opening bout of the night both men held nothing back with NOS trying to catch The Man off guard with his speed including the 04(619) round the ring post and a breathtaking plancha to the outside. NOS picked up the win after a back suplex from Sterling left both men’s shoulders on the mat until NOS was able to squeeze his shoulder off a split second before the 3 count. Juice .def Inferno In yet another fast paced match both men seemed evenly matched until The Punisher and X-Rated made their way to ringside halfway through. Juice looked to have the win with a tombstone piledriver but Inferno managed to get his shoulder off and nail his cocky opponent with a massive Afterburner Chokeslam. In the end however it was Juice taking the win with his Simply Squeezed (Roll The Dice) after The Punisher hung Inferno over the top rope. Disturbed (with TNT) .def Chrome (with Anna Lisa) After losing to Dan "The Man" Sterling at Meltdown II Disturbed underwent a makeover courtesy of his manager TNT and appeared more dangerous than ever against Chrome. Disturbed looked to have the match in hand until Chrome seemingly snapped and began ramming his own head against the turnbuckle. Disturbed would take the victory after a flying elbow off the top rope. After the match both TNT and Disturbed began to stalk Anna Lisa until Ivan Druganov made the save and fought the two psychopaths off. The Hype Bobby Cool .def Dr Diablo Dr Diablo's return to NZWPW would prove to be unsuccessful as he would lose to Bobby cool after a Pump handle bomb after a relatively even match which saw both men trade the advantage numerous times. After the match Max Damage assaulted the guest announcer Ivan Druganov and challenging him to a match later in the night. Outback Jack .def Buck In this trans-tasman battle both men were not above using the boots buck brought to the ring to gain the advantage with Jack grinding Buck's face into them twice behind the referee's back. Buck couldn't stand another man touching his boots and proceeded to nail Jack in the head with them repeatedly giving Jack the win in the process but sending a message to everyone in the back "Don't Touch My Boots'. Max Damage Vs Ivan Druganov - No Contest In the match made earlier in the night Druganov stormed to the ring and assaulted Damage and dominated the smaller man until Damage slid outside to take a break. While Druganov was distracted Damage slid back in and nailed the Russian with a massive low blow and tossed him outside and ignored the count of the referee to inflict the most damage he could until Chrome saved Druganov, repaying the favour from earlier in the night. IBS .def The Ram to retain NZWPW Heavyweight Championship In a match that was anything but fair IBS refused to stay down for The Ram or any members of Death Sentence that surrounded the ring repeatedly kicking out even after being thrown into the ring post multiple times by The Punisher. In the end it was dissention in Death Sentence that caused The Ram to walk right into Island Time (uranage), which gave IBS the victory and another successful title defence. |
