Adam Avalanche retains at Bringing Down the House

Bringing Down the House 4 saw Adam Avalanche put his Championship on the line against CD in an epic main event match. Unfortunately, despite CD’s best efforts Avalanche crushed the young challenger, and held on to the New Zealand Championship.

Before the match officially got underway, both men found out just where they stood with the packed crowd, with CD easily being the fan favourite. Avalanche soon proved he didn’t need crowd support though, hoisting CD onto his shoulder and bringing him down to the canvas with an Oklahoma Slam. Adam remained in control, and used his size to his advantage when he locked CD in an excruciating chinlock. CD battled out of it with the support of the fans, and attempted to use his speed advantage to take Avalanche off his vertical base, by going for a cross body. Avalanche’s mass proved to be too much for CD though, and Adam caught the aspiring young American Footballer, and slammed him to the mat.

The Champion applied another chinlock, which he than changed to a sleeper hold. A fading CD received the fan support he needed to get back into the match again, and made it up to his feet. CD may have been better off to stay in the sleeper hold though, for as soon as he got to his feet, Adam Avalanche charged at him and caught him with a Stinger Splash in the corner. With CD down, Avalanche took the time to remove the turnbuckle protective padding, and dragged CD back to the corner. With the defenceless challenger backed up against the steel turnbuckles, Adam looked to inflict more punishment with a charging knee. Suddenly, CD came to his senses, and managed to roll out of the way, causing Avalanche to drive himself straight into the unprotected turnbuckles!

CD seized this opportunity, and began viciously kicking away at Adam’s knee, but was still unable to take Avalanche down. Eventually, CD went back to his American Football roots, and bounced off the ropes to chop-block the back of the behemoth’s knee, finally taking him to the canvas.

CD was unable to keep his advantage though, and when he tried for a submission hold on the Champion’s leg, Avalanche kicked CD off, sending him falling through the ropes to the outside. A resilient CD climbed back into the ring, and walked straight into a huge Sidewalk Slam, leaving him down and out. Avalanche made the cover, put broke his own pinfall at 2, saying “It’s only over when I say it’s over!”.

The broken cover was a new breath of life for CD, who managed to get Adam Avalanche in a Brock Lock, which lead to the Champion’s shoulders being on the mat, earning CD a near fall. Avalanche battled out of it and the two men exchanged offensive moves yet again. Eventually CD brought Adam down again, and hit 3 Silent elbows, impressing NZWPW’s commentator for the evening - “Silencer” Jean Miracle.

In the closing moments of the match, CD appeared to be on the verge of victory, attempting two spear tackles, and finally taking Avalanche to the mat with the third. Having blasted Adam with almost everything in his arsenal, CD tried to hoist the big man to his shoulders for a DVD. Avalanche’s weight was just too much for CD to handle though, and the turnbuckle became a more appealing option. CD took Avalanche to the corner, and began to hit him with rights and lefts. However, with senior official Roneel briefly distracted, Avalanche hit CD with a low blow, and then hoisted the wounded challenger up for a huge Powerbomb for the victory.

After the match was over, “Silencer” Jean Miracle climbed into the ring, ready to deliver his anticipated apology. Miracle thought it over, and decided to apologise to Adam Avalanche... for not hitting him with a steel chair last month at Double Destruction. Miracle then went as far as to challenge Adam for the Championship right there and then! Before Avalanche could respond, D-Hoya made his way to the ring, and claimed that he was the rightful owner of the belt, and as such, should get the first shot at Avalanche. Hoya berated the Champion, comparing him to a marshmallow man, prompting Avalanche to warn D-Hoya not to bother facing him, unless he wanted to be covered in white stuff. As all three men exchanged insults, Adam Avalanche finally decided he didn’t want to defend his title against either, which prompted a brawl to erupt. SJM took down Adam with a series of high dropkicks, but then fell victim to an End of D-World. With D-Hoya seemingly coming out on top of this altercation, Adam Avalanche bounced the NZWPW Title off his head, and was the last man standing at the conclusion of the event.

NZWPW Bringing Down the House Results:

  • Dream Catcher def. Masked Superstar
Dream Catcher started the match by blowing Dream dust into the eyes of the Masked Superstar. The Superstar proved he could also play dirty, and used anything from a low blow to a poke in the eyes to keep Woodgate down. However, in the end, Catcher was able to defeat Masked Superstar, when he slid out of an attempted Scoop Slam, and nailed Masked Superstar with a Woodcutter.
  • Little Joker def. Harry Peters
The newest members of the NZWPW roster showed they had what it took to be in NZWPW, starting the match with a series of headlocks and armdrags. Harry Peters became the crowd favourite, and almost defeated Joker with a sunset flip pin. Little Joker was determined to win the match though, and went as far as to hit Peters with a low blow, then swept out Harry’s legs, causing him to land flat on his face, and be down long enough for Joker to get the pinfall.
  • Sandstorm def. Corporal Punishment
NZWPW referee Jase, now known as Corporal Punishment, made his way to the ring, and called out Axel, having had enough of the various beatings Axel had inflicted on him. Axel began to walk to the ring, but shrugged off the Corporal’s challenge, and sent Sandstorm to the ring to do his dirty work. Punishment put up a good effort, but Sandstorm eventually got the victory, choking out the Corporal with a Dragon Sleeper.
  • Tank w/ Dan “Da Man” Stirling def. Belthazar
Belthazar made his intentions clear at the start of the match, refusing a handshake from Tank. This proved to be a bad move, as it motivated Tank even more than usual. Tank delivered a massive clothesline that literally took Belthazar right out of his shoes. Tank then caught his opponent with a modified spinebuster, and scored a near fall. Another modified spinebuster ensured the victory went to Tank.
  • PsykoBoy def. Axel via Disqualification
In a grudge match spawned from the events of last month’s Double Destruction 6 man tag match, PsykoBoy began the match strong, using his quickness and agility to overcome Axel’s size and power advantages, dropkicking Axel to the outside of the ring. In the closing moments of the match, Psyko nailed Axel with two Psyko Swantons, but only got a 2 count for his efforts. Axel then slammed PsykoBoy with a Lucifer’s Gift, but barely bothered to cover him, and eventually walked away from the ring. Before senior official Roneel reached a count of 10, Axel was back in the ring, and choking PsykoBoy. When Axel failed to stop before a 5 count, PsykoBoy was awarded the Disqualification victory. Axel didn’t stop choking Psyko though, until “Silencer” Jean Miracle climbed into the ring and chased Axel away.
  • Rehua & Dan “Da Man” Stirling def. Jimmy Sparx & Anarchy
Before the match began, Jimmy Sparx and Anarchy proved they didn’t have their usual tag team chemistry, with Sparx demanding he be announced first. Later in the match, Sparx and Anarchy collided again, when Jimmy tried to use his steel chair on Rehua and Dan. Anarchy - not wanting to lose the match through disqualification - stopped Sparx from hitting Stirling’s team. An irate Sparx then turned his attentions to Anarchy, who ducked an attempted chairshot, causing the chair to bounce back off the ropes and catch Jimmy straight in the face! With Sparx dazed, Anarchy made sure there was no doubt their partnership was over, and he nailed Sparx with an AOK, before walking out on his former friend. With Jimmy down and out, Rehua hit him with the big swing, which was followed up by a second rope elbow drop by Dan Stirling for the win. After the match, a fan grabbed the microphone, and revealed he was Dan Stirling’s older brother. He called himself the Punisher, and claimed to punish those who are good. Punisher then began to beat up a defenceless Dan.
  • NZWPW New Zealand Championship Match
    Adam Avalanche def. CD
In a back and forth match that saw CD poised to gain an upset victory several times, it was Adam Avalanche who won the match and retained his title, going downstairs on CD before hoisting him into the air and bringing him down with an earth shattering Powerbomb. After the match, both “Silencer” Jean Miracle and D-Hoya laid claim to the Championship, and a brawl erupted between the all three NZWPW mainstays.
