NZWPW Champion Jimmy Sparx had his work cut out for him earlier tonight, defending the championship twice, much to his dismay.
At the top of the night Jimmy revealed the results of an online poll conducted to determine who should face Sparx. With over 80% of the vote, D-Hoya was the clear winner. Jimmy tried pandering to the audience, telling them that they were the ones that mattered, not the internet, and allowing them to pick who his opponent should be. Unfortunately for him, they too selected D-Hoya. Regardless, Jimmy told fans he had opted to put the title on the line against Sandstorm, who had earned just over 1% of the online poll results.
As Sandstorm came to the ring to accept the match, Sparx began to choke him out, and then nailed him with the Sparky’s Bottom whilst demanding the match be started. As soon as it was, a three count ensured it was over, and Jimmy thought his night was over.
“Silencer” Jean Miracle soon received a phone call from NZWPW’s Chief Wrestling Officer though, who informed him that Sparx would defend his championship against D-Hoya in the night’s main event - being stripped of the belt if he refused to show up.
Sparx snuck up on D-Hoya from the other side of the ring as the match began, and backed him into the corner where he laid into him with various punches. D-Hoya powered out and knocked Sparx down to deliver a cartwheel splash, before hammering away at him in the corner.
Sparx took control in the corner somehow, and D-Hoya tried to tackle his way to safety, only to fall into a modified guillotine from Jimmy Sparx. As the two got to their feet, Sparx took Hoya over with a double arm suplex and then rolled him into a pinning position for a two. D-Hoya kicked out and rolled into a pin of his own, before rolling out of the ring and taking a shot at Jimmy Sparx’s face. Back in the ring D-Hoya rammed his shoulder into Sparx’s abdomen whilst in the corner, before headlocking him to the mat and modifying some break dancing moves to leg drop the champion.
Not to be outdone, Sparx nailed a spine buster and began to hit D-Hoya in the face after he kicked out of the follow-up pin. Looking to end things, Sparx called for the Circuit Breaker, but was back dropped instead. As Sparx bounced back to his feet D-Hoya hit him with the Liquidiser, and both men dropped to the mat. Referee Roneel reached a count of 6 before they both resurfaced by the turnbuckle. D-Hoya climbed to the middle rope and began to punch Sparx in the skull, until the NZWPW Champion grabbed hold of him and delivered a Sit-Out Powerbomb.
Sure that he would this time hit the Circuit Breaker, Jimmy tried once more to lift D-Hoya, only this time to be picked up for an End of Da World> Jimmy quickly slid behind D-Hoya - out of harms way - and backed him into the ropes where he gave the challenger a blatant low blow, getting himself disqualified in the process. Happy with the result, Sparx took his NZWPW Championship and headed backstage. NZWPW Results: - NZWPW Championship
Jimmy Sparx © def. Sandstorm After naming Sandstorm the #1 Contender to his title, Sparx jumped the self-proclaimed sexiest man in NZWPW and began to choke him out whilst demanding the match be started. Reluctant referee Misty rang the bell in time for Jimmy to deliver the Sparky’s Bottom and defend his title in record time. - Infinity w/ Adam Avalanche def. Cam Owens
Owens and Infinity had a back-and-forth match, but when Infinity distracted referee Misty and kicked Cam in the groin at the same time, Adam Avalanche snuck into the ring, gave Owens a Wave of the Avalanche, and slipped back outside while Infinity collected the win. - Adam Avalanche w/ Infinity def. CD
Avalanche wasn’t given the easy tune-up match for next weekend’s AWF show he had in mind when a returning CD answered his challenge. However, with Infinity at ringside to take CD’s attention off the match, Avalanche once again hit an opportunistic Wave and claimed the win. - “Shining” Nick Silver def. Belthazar
Nick Silver made his return to the ring also, but unlike CD, victory was in his grasp after Silver countered the Satanic Cross into a DDT that busted Balthazar open, and left his head damaged for the Silver Bullet that definitively put him away. - JC Star def. “Dream Catcher” Phil Woodgate w/ Little Joker
With LJ running around the ring antagonising Star, Woodgate attempted to use some Dream Dust on his opponent. However, JC slapped the dust back into “Dream Catcher’s” eyes instead, and connected with a super-kick straight to his face to put him down. After the match, JC Star tied Joker up in the chops and lit up his chest with a high-impact chop for good measure. - Misty def. MacBeth
Taking a break from refereeing, Misty stepped back into the ring dressed for competition. MacBeth proved to be no match for Misty’s power, and after a degrading spanking the Mistifier Powerslam put MacBeth away while referee Matariki counted a reluctant three. - #1 Contender’s Match
Rufguts def. Axl The battle of NZWPW’s big men saw Axl violently shove referee Misty to the mat when things weren’t going his way, and head into the crowd to retrieve a lead pipe! However, before he could unleash his weapon upon Rufguts, the garbage-man smacked Axl with a bag of rubbish, and then delivered a stunner onto the bag! Misty revived in time to see ‘Guts hit a huge leg drop from the middle rope, and counted the pin for him despite the fact he was holding onto the ropes for leverage. - NZWPW Tag Team Championships
Masky & O’Siris w/ Peyote def. Company T w/ Matariki © via disqualification Company T appeared to be dominating their masked opponents as they rained punches down on them from the turnbuckles, but suddenly Infinite Avalanche came to the ring, and began to do the same! With Masky and O’Siris being unfairly assaulted, referee Roneel called for the bell, disqualifying the champions and giving Infinite Avalanche the last laugh before their championship match in Auckland next Saturday. - NZWPW Championship
D-Hoya def. Jimmy Sparx © via disqualification After being forced into the match by NZWPW’s CWO, Jimmy Sparx went toe-to-toe with D-Hoya for some time, until the match looked to be too even. Scared of losing his title, Sparx took the low road with a low blow, and retained his belt via disqualification. |
