The NZWPW Championship is on the line tomorrow night when Rufguts defends the belt against former six-time champ D-Hoya at NZWPW Bringing Down the House!
Rufguts took NZWPW by storm in 2009, turning heads with a win in the prestigious Right 2 Challenge match in August. It wasn’t until November however that Rufguts invoked his Right 2 Challenge, taking on D-Hoya after the champ had been through a gruelling six-man tag team match.
Not only did he pick his moment well, but Rufguts had an ally in special guest referee X-Rated. As such, the “Human Weapon” left Movember as the NZWPW Champion.
At Bringing Down the House, Rufguts won’t have X-Rated on his side. He will, however, be standing across the ring from a very angry D-Hoya. Can Rufguts lock D-Hoya in the Clap Trap and prove he deserves to be NZWPW Champion, or will D-Hoya drive Rufguts through the mat with a K-Kwon Bomb on his way to an unprecedented seventh title reign?
“Dream Catcher” Phil Woodgate has called out an injured JC Star. Woodgate, who wants a shot at the NZWPW Tag Team Championship, told NZWPW.co.nz that he guarantees a win over Star in an interview earlier today. No one knows what condition JC Star is in though, after suffering an ankle injury in the Five Star Revolution’s tag team title match with the Circus of Tragedy at NZWPW Movember. Will the tag champ even be medically cleared to wrestle?
Star’s tag team partner, Travis Banks, is in perfect condition however, and will be in action against Corey Dallas at Bringing Down the House. “The Ideal Experience” is looking to be involved in the NZWPW Tag Team Championship picture, and a win over the current champ would certainly put him there. Dallas doesn’t have a partner as of yet though - is he in the right state of mind to defeat Travis Banks? Or will the “Ideal Experience” find himself locked in the Lion Clutch?
Get the answers to these questions and more tomorrow night at NZWPW Bringing Down the House, at the He Toa Gym on North St, Petone from 7.30pm! Tickets are available on the door ($15 for adults, $10 for children) or from the gym during the day. The card, subject to change, is listed below.
