On The Mat ran from 1975 until 1983, and each half-hour episode featured wrestling matches and promos from larger-than-life wrestlers from both New Zealand and overseas. Rick Martel, King Curtis, Samoan Joe and Brute Miller (before he became a Bushwacker) were amongst the professional wrestling legends featured on the show, while Steve Rickard provided the play-by-play commentary. Two of On The Mat's fondly-remembered episodes can now be viewed from the NZ On Screen website, and keep checking back for as more become available! |
Episodes of the legendary kiwi wrestling show On The Mat are now available through NZ On Screen, and Tammy Davis (a.k.a. Munter from Outrageous Fortune) got into a time-machine and headed back to 1979 to make a promotional video which can be seen beyond this link!
