RAW: Sides Taken And Battles Begun

John Laurinaitis, coming off his surprising Big Show-enabled victory over John Cena at Over the Limit began to consolidate his supporters and his control over RAW.  Battle lines were drawn and chaos erupted, but John Cena had his sights set on Big Show.  However Show, now deep in Laurinaitis’ pocket, responded as only a giant can.

"What the hell happened?" asked John Cena, echoing most of the fans as he opened RAW.  Big Show, Cena opined, would've been rehired by whoever replaced Laurinaitis as General Manager after losing to Cena, and Cena was angry and perplexed as to why the World's Largest Athlete had chosen instead to sign on and side with the unpopular General Manager.

Trundling out onto the stage in a mobility scooter, Laurinaitis first listed the range of injuries he'd suffered at the hands of Cena as well as delivering a warning that if any other superstar laid hands upon him they'd be fired.  Laurinaitis then introduced Big Show, saying that he'd been rehired and given the opportunity to face Cena at No Way Out.

The crowd booed and catcalled the suit-wearing show, who grimly looked around the fans for a moment before taking a microphone and letting loose on Cena.  "Quite frankly, none of you are entitled to an explanation.   But last week I found myself on my knees, found myself crying, and all of you watched but none of you helped.  I got no sympathy from any of you!  Eighteen years of my life, and nothing!  I did what any of you would've done, and I've now got an ironclad contract.  And I'm proud."

"How dare you, Cena, how dare you!" barked Show.  "How dare any of you judge me!  At No Way Out, Cena, I will be judging you.  There will be no payback, my friend, because I'm going to knock you out!"

Show turned heel and strode backstage, to be replaced by David Otunga, who declared he intended to take on Cena, dedicating the match to "my boss, John Laurinaitis."  Cena warned Otunga that he wasn't in the mood, "and if you come down to this ring, I will hurt you," but Otunga proceeded nonetheless.  Otunga, however, seemed more interested in impressing the General Manager than squaring up to Cena, and turning his back one too many times saw Otunga quickly caught by first the Attitude Adjustment then the STF.

However, immediately after the bell Laurinaitis' "security" Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins, accompanied by recent Laurinaitis signings Titus O'Neil and Darren Young, rushed down to the ring to join Otunga in assaulting Cena.  Cena weathered a fierce assault for a few moments before World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus rushed out to his rescue, knocking Laurinaitis aside as he did so.  Together Cena and Sheamus were able to see off the gaggle of young wrestlers, only to be informed that they'd been joining together again in the main event in a three-on-two tag team handicap match against Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and Tensai.   To make matters worse, Laurinaitis announced that the match would be contested as a Lumberjack Match, with the ring surrounded by his own hand-picked superstars.

Once the entrances had been made for the main event it was clear how heavily Laurinaitis had stacked the deck against Cena and Sheamus when it became apparent that the lumberjacks were made up of men who were no friends of the pair, including the likes of Chris Jericho, Alberto Del Rio, Epico, Primo, Otunga, Young, O'Neil, Reks, Hawkins and more.  The surrounding stars cheered on Tensai, Ziggler and Swagger, and though Cena and Sheamus battled back bravely against the unfavourable odds, the writing was on the wall.  Soon the match fell apart entirely, and Laurinaitis looked on happily from the stage with Big Show at his side as his gaggle of supporters began an all-in assault on the fan favourites.

Suddenly the locker room emptied, and the likes of CM Punk, Christian, Brodus Clay, Santino Marella, R-Truth and Kofi Kingston rushed out equal the odds, and Show and Laurinaitis scuttled backstage as an all-in brawl erupted in and around the ring.  Cena broke free of the melee and rushed backstage hot on the heels of Laurinaitis, bailing him up to demand to know where Big Show had got to.  Laurinaitis pleaded ignorance before reminding Cena that attacking the General Manager would see him fired, and Cena paused and sucked down a few deep breaths, attempting to regain his composure.  Cena then turned, only to walk right into the big right fist of Big Show, and as RAW went off the air Cena was lying cold on the concrete, while Show walked off alongside Laurinaitis.

Earlier on RAW Alberto Del Rio found himself first humiliated when Santino Marella scared off Roberto Rodriguez in order to provide Del Rio with his own unique take on the Mexican Aristocrat's personalised ring announcement, then left to one side as Chris Jericho decided to intervene in Del Rio's match against Randy Orton.  Jericho, it seems, has decided that Orton is responsible for Jericho not winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Over the Limit, and struck Orton with a series of three Code Breakers, taking the time between each to remind Orton that he, Jericho, was the best in the world at whatever he chose to do.

After the controversial end to their epic encounter at Over the Limit it seems neither WWE Champion CM Punk nor Daniel Bryan was willing to move on to other opponents, with Bryan vowing he'd be seeking a rematch to prove that he could tap out CM Punk to the Yes! Lock.  Punk's response was to set Bryan up with a match against Kane, with the Big Red Monster now wise to Bryan's chicanery from SmackDown.  Punk gleefully manipulated events from ringside and soon the angry Kane was bashing Bryan down with a chair before Punk locked on the Anaconda Vice, shouting "Yes! Yes! Yes!" all the while.

New Intercontinental Champion Christian also made a triumphant return to RAW, defeating Jinder Mahal to the delight of the fans.  Beth Phoenix was also successful on RAW, pummelling Kelly Kelly to a defeat to send a message to Divas Champion Layla.
