Reigning X-Division Champion Austin Aries will vacate the title for a shot at TNA's World Heavyweight Championship, but not until the day of Destination X. Aries announced his decision to surrender the belt on this week's episode of Impact Wrestling, but clarified when he would do so via Twitter. "I will officially keep my title until July 8th, the day of the PPV," Aries tweeted, "to keep my collateral and guard against being left empty handed if shenanigans try to prevent my World Title shot, like @REALBobbyRoode catching Chickenpox or excessively pulling his groin until blind." Aries became the longest reigning X-Division Champion in TNA history earlier this year when he surpassed Christopher Daniels' 182 day reign. Surrendering the title at Destination X will bring his record-setting reign to an end at 301 days. |
