Taranaki Turmoil: Jacobs steals the spotlight!

The hardcore fans of Taranaki filled out the Star War Memorial Hall this Saturday night to support the stars of Impact Pro Wrestling for a second year in a row, eagerly awaiting their hometown heroes to square off in the night's main event.

The former four time IPW Heavyweight Champion “The Deal” Dal Knox greeted the Taranaki crowd to a huge ovation.

Absent from his side was IPW Commissioner Dion McCracken, prompting Knox to announce that the main event would be a contested under “Taranaki Hardcore” rules.

The homecoming moments were also shared by the young lion, TJ Rocket, who returned back to the Taranaki after defeating “Handsome” Danny Jacobs under the same roof at the inaugural show last year.

Colliding in the first ever "Taranaki Hardcore" triple threat, Jacobs retreated to ringside in the early moments of the main event, allowing Knox and his former protégé, TJ Rocket, take the center stage, putting on a showcase of great technical chain wrestling, leaving the crowd in awe. Knox and Rocket continued their power struggle inside the ring before turning their attention to Jacobs, who had taken refuge in the back row of the crowd.

Teaming together, Rocket and Knox both closed in on the "Handsome" one, before unleashing an assault to the crowds delight. Jacobs found himself heading back to the ring after being viciously thrown back into the ringside area at the hands of the former four time heavyweight champion. With fire burning in his eyes, the devil within Knox began to surface as he pulled a table out from underneath the ring, setting it up at ringside. Unwilling to play the same game as Knox, Jacobs retreated to ringside, dismantling the table.

The battle for Taranaki pride continued as Rocket, Jacobs and Knox engaged in a war with each other. With a split crowd cheering both hometown heroes on, Rocket took to the sky with a def-defying moonsault to ringside, toppling Knox.

While Knox regained his composure at ringside, Jacobs took control over Rocket inside the ring. Chants of “Rocket” filled the arena as Jacobs continued his assault on the young lion. Jacobs’ momentum was cut short after Knox re-entered the ring, hitting a series of belly-to-belly suplexes to stun the “Handsome” one.

The Rocketman stopped a top rope attempt from Knox, following up with the rocket launcher. After disposing Jacobs to ringside, Rocket set him up on the table. While ascending to the top turnbuckle, Knox spring boarded to the top, sunset flipping Rocket from the top turnbuckle onto Jacobs at ringside. Among the carnage, the table legs had given out, leaving the table unbroken.

The war between Rocket and Knox continued to escalate as the action returned to the ring. After failing to gain the three count after his moonsault, Rocket attempted to finish Knox off with a frog splash from the top rope but failed to capitalize again. Knox quickly recovered, surprising Rocket with a kick to the midsection, setting him up and successfully executing the Knox Out.  Jacobs quickly stormed the ring, rolling his childhood friend up with a schoolboy to steal the victory. To a chorus of boo's from the Taranaki strong, “Handsome" Danny Jacobs' post win celebration was quickly cut short at the hands of the former IPW champion, hitting Jacobs with the Knox Out. On his feet, Rocket brought the collapsed table from ringside into the ring, setting it up in the turnbuckle. Knox hoisted Jacobs up, ruthlessly hitting him with a running powerbomb, sending him crashing through the table in the corner to the delight of the crowd. Both Rocket and Knox celebrated, thanking the fans as the show came to a close.

The IPW Heavyweight Champion, Kingi, won a small war against his former protégé Curt Chaos, retaining the championship after a gruelling twenty minutes. Joined by his former tag team partner, Eliminator winner, Brian Saint James, Curt Chaos pushed Kingi to the limits, working every limb with precision in order to steal the IPW Heavyweight Championship and return it to Australian soil.

Chaos attempted to pull off a few new tricks in the early moments of the match, hiding underneath the ring briefly but failed to impress the champion with his games of hide and seek. Saint Chaos’ usual teamwork was cut short after Brian Saint James found himself ejected from ringside after referee Lloyd Morgan exploited a cheap shot from ringside.

Chaos controlled the majority of the match, slowly wearing the champion down with a series of sleeper holds and trademark knee strikes. Though the champion managed to fight off Chaos, overpowering his former student with a flurry of strikes and clotheslines. With his second wind, Kingi managed to execute his trademark springboard moonsault, stunning Chaos.

Referee Lloyd Morgan found himself in no man’s land after being knocked unconscious after Kingi whipped Chaos into him. With victory on the horizon, Kingi hit a brainbuster before making the cover. From the opposite side of the ring, Saint James re entered the ring, counting to three. Under the impression the match was over, Kingi slowly climbed to his feet exhausted before being hit with Saint James’ “Arm of God” lariat. Chaos covered the champion as Referee Morgan came to, but failed to pick up the three count.

After failing to finish the champion with the fame asser, Chaos took to the top rope but failed to hit Kingi with the cross body. As Chaos climbed to his feet, Kingi stalked his former student, lining him up for the Silencer Superkick. Chaos saw it coming, quickly blocking the attempt but found himself schooled by his former teacher, who faked the superkick and capitalized with a roll up to gain the win.

It was the final opportunity for Megan-Kate to inject herself back into the finals of the IPW Women's Championship tournament, in a "Collision Course" rematch against Britenay.

However, Britenay once again outsmarted Megan-Kate after hitting the Britenay Spear and holding onto the bottom rope for extra leverage, screwing the BFF beauty once again. After being robbed for a second time, a furious Megan-Kate let off a fair amount of steam. Evie attempted to cool her BFF's nerves but failed to do so, chasing behind partner as she stormed backstage.
