BDTH: Ben Mana's first appearance

120720_bdthWhen Ben Mana became NZWPW Champion at Power Play IX, it came at a price.

Mana blew out his knee in the main event of NZWPW's biggest show of the year. He was still able to defeat Jakob Cross 2-1 in a two-out-of-three falls match, but has not been in action since his historic win last month.

At Bringing Down the House tonight, Mana will make his first public appearance as the NZWPW Champion and update the NZWPW audience on the condition of his knee.

In the main event of the evening, former NZWPW Champion "Rufguts" Roddy Gunn will once again come out of retirement to take on his former Project Mayhem teammate Johnny Idol.

Gunn disposed of James Shaw at Bringing Down the House earlier this year, and now looks to make an example out of Idol as well.

Idol is coming off of a win in his last singles match, against the man who retired Gunn last year: D-Hoya.

Will Idol prove to be in better condition than Rufguts thanks to his consistent wrestling schedule for 2012? Or will Rufguts go 2-0 in his singles matches with former Project Mayhem protégés?

And as previously announced, Jakob Cross defends the He Toa Cup against Tykade.

Cross is coming off a loss to Tykade at Randwick Rage last week, where the Bigger Figure attacked Jakob all over the venue before enduring a British Buzzsaw and pinning Cross in a crucifix position.

Will Tykade make it two victories against Cross in as many weeks and add the He Toa Cup to a résumé that already includes NZWPW and NZWPW Tag Team Champion? Or will Cross avenge his loss last week and continue his He Toa Cup reign?

NZWPW Bringing Down the House takes places tonight, July 20, at the He Toa Gym on North Street, Petone. Doors open at 7pm with the first match starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are available on the door at a rate of $15 for adults and $10 for children. The card, subject to change, is listed below.
