Cody Rhodes stormed out to the ring at the start of WWE Main Event declaring the entire show was a farce, as was the Elimination Chamber match at the upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. The stipulation announced by Booker T - that all entrants to the chamber to compete to be the next challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship must be former World Heavyweight Champions - robbed Rhodes, he explained, of an opportunity to move to the top of WWE. Setting up and sitting down upon a chair in the middle of the ring Rhodes declared that his match against Sheamus wasn't going to go ahead until Booker T put things right and put Rhodes into the Elimination Chamber. Instead of the SmackDown General Manager Rhodes was instead confronted by Sheamus. Sheamus, putting on his best Booker T impression asked Rhodes "tell me you didn't just do that?!?" Impressions of Vickie Guerrero and Vince McMahon soon followed, and Rhodes had seen enough, attacking Sheamus to get the match under way. Attacking Sheamus head-on wasn't Rhodes's best decision, however, and soon he was being clobbered from rope to rope by the Irish-born former champion. Rhodes' superb wrestling background held him in good stead, and he fought back into contention, choosing to focus on keeping the Celtic Warrior grounded, wearing the stronger man down. But Sheamus' strength is renowned, and even as Rhodes was attempting to pick up the pace to keep Sheamus rattled Sheamus was building in kind. Cross Rhodes was countered by Sheamus with White Noise, then a big brutal Brogue Kick took Rhodes down for the pinfall victory to the Irishman. Next out was Damien Sandow, deriding Sheamus for defeating his former tag team partner, "and still my best friend," Cody Rhodes - and being even more disgusted with the fans for cheering on the "Albino Irishman." Sandow announced his intention of avenging Rhodes' loss by defeating in turn one of their arch nemesis, Daniel Bryan. And Sandow proved true to his words, in a remarkably short match. But Kane coming out to distract Bryan with his pyrotechnics did more to decide the match than any offence by Sandow, and as Bryan argued with his fellow tag team champion Sandow was able to strike from behind with his swinging neckbreaker. A quick cover followed, and Kane smiled grimly as Bryan suffered defeat at the hands of the "intellectual savour of the masses." Backstage Aksana and Tamina Snuka approached Brodus Clay, attempting to use their charms to persuade The Funkasaurus to replace Naomi and Cameron with them as the new Funkadactyls. This lead to a brawl which soon carried out into an impromptu match in the ring, and while Cameron seems a few steps off the pace when it comes to wrestler her pairing with Naomi saved their side. The talented diva proved more than a match for both Aksana and Tamina, and after knocking Tamina outside of the ring Naomi struck Aksana with a spectacular spinning heel kick to earn a victory for The Funkadactyls.
