After 22 months of holding some variation of the title, Evie has been beaten for the PWWA Championship by Shazza McKenzie.
McKenzie pinned Evie after hitting an elevated version of her Shaztastic Stunner to win the title at Saturday’s Road to Ruin event in Sydney, Australia.
“I lost the PWWA title last night,” Evie wrote on her Facebook page. “Down but not out, though. All the more reason to work even harder, right?”
Evie first won the interim PWWA Championship by beating Jessie McKay in August 2012 while then-champ Madison Eagles was sidelined with a knee injury.
Evie defeated Eagles to unify both titles in August 2013 at PWWA’s Champions United event.
It is not known whether Evie will seek a rematch for the title at PWA’s next event, or allow McKenzie to defend against a new challenger.
While Evie suffered a loss, both James Shaw and Liam Fury were victorious in their matches at PWA Road to Ruin.
Fury beat Sean Kustom in what has been described as “a high intensity bout” while Shaw got the better of Adam Hoffman in what he admits was a close contest.
Hoffman and Kustom’s Four Nations stablemate, Jack Bonza, scored perhaps the biggest win at Road to Ruin when he defeated Robbie Eagles to become the new PWA Champion in the main event of the evening.
