WWE has announced the opening of its UK Performance Centre – the first outside of the United States – at a press conference held in London, England.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events & Creative, said the UK Performance Centre was the next step in establishing local NXT brands around the world.
“This is the first of what will be many performance centres outside of the US, and this brings everything to the table that the performance centre in Orlando does,” Levesque said.
The UK Performance Centre is a 17,000 square foot facility (about three-and-a-half times as big as a basketball court) with two training rings, strength and conditioning equipment, and 24/7 content creation infrastructure.
“You can have the best athletes in the world but if you can’t show them to the world it doesn’t do you any good,” Levesque said.
“This facility allows that to take place at a level we’ve never been able to do here in the UK before, 24/7.”
More than 30 athletes signed to NXT UK (including New Zealand’s Travis Banks) will train at the UK Performance Centre in London.
NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool – the brand’s first standalone event – will air live on WWE Network this Sunday, January 13 from 8am NZDT.
