Impact Pro Wrestling announces final ever show
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

This Saturday will be a milestone in both Impact Pro Wrestling and New Zealand wrestling history as IPW look to crown the first ever IPW New Zealand Women’s Champion!

Returning home to the Lynfield Recreation Centre, IPW have an explosive night lined up which will see history in the making as Evie and Britenay square off in the tournament finals for the women’s championship.

Following the three-month-long tournament which saw Evie and Britenay advance into the finals, years of dedication, hard work, and passion will culminate with championship gold for one of these talented women.

The road to Destiny has been one of many controversies, with BFF member Megan-Kate being eliminated from the tournament on two occasions by Britenay. After being screwed out of advancement in the tournament at Collision Course, Megan-Kate had a second chance granted by IPW Commissioner Dion McCracken at Taranaki Turmoil last month, but the BFF beauty failed to take a place in the tournament finals after “Handsome” Danny Jacobs once again helped Britenay steal another victory, cementing her name into the finals.

Unlike her BFF tag partner, Evie’s quest for championship gold saw no controversies as she qualified into the tournament finals after defeating newcomer Olivia Shaw in front of her hometown crowd in Pakuranga at Unleashed in June.

Evie and Britenay are no stranger to each other, with a feud that has spanned five years since their debuts in IPW. Despite the diversity in each other’s wrestling abilities, both Evie and Britenay have been recognized by NZPWI as the best female talents the country has to offer, awarding Britenay the award in 2010 and Evie the award in 2011.

Tension is sure to boil between the two beauties this Friday morning as Evie and Britenay make a special appearance on Good Morning, on TV ONE, barely 24 hours before they lock up for the championship.

This Saturday night their feud will escalate to new heights as they battle each other for the right to be named the first ever IPW New Zealand Women’s Champion, but to finally answer the question of who is the most dominant female in the country.

With the championship hanging in the balance, who will be hungrier for the crowning achievement in female wrestling and prove to the country that they are the best this country has to offer?

Will Evie accomplish her destiny and be recognized as the first ever women’s champion or will Britenay’s dominant streak that she has showcased for the last five years be rewarded in championship gold? What roles will Megan-Kate and “Handsome” Danny Jacobs play as they both look on from the sidelines in the biggest match of their partners’ careers?

The world will be watching as Evie and Britenay square off to determine who will fulfil their destiny to become the first ever IPW Women’s Champion!

Adding to the blockbuster main event will be a tag team match of mega proportions as the monster Reuben de Jong teams with IPW Heavyweight Champion Kingi to extract some revenge on Team Charisma’s Tykade and “Te Tahi” Vinny Dunn!

Team Charisma have been a thorn in de Jong’s side since his return to IPW earlier this year, looking to humiliate the former K1 and IPW Heavyweight Champion at every chance possible. At Unleashed in June, former IPW Heavyweight Champion “Te Tahi” Vinny Dunn made his presence felt in de Jong’s match against “God’s Gift” Brian Saint James, helping him to gain a huge victory over the monster. Dunn’s involvement continued that night as he attempted to dethrone Kingi as IPW Heavyweight Champion in his main event match against Tykade.

The history between all tag partners runs deep, with Reuben de Jong’s storied championship matches against Dunn in 2010 and his bad blood with “The Bigger Figure” Tykade, headlining two Nightmare B4 Xmas events against him. Team Charisma will also be looking to exploit weaknesses over IPW Heavyweight Champion Kingi, who tagged with Dunn as part of “The Iwi” last year.

With four former heavyweight champions involved, packed with years of experience both nationally and internationally, which team will break the stalemate and walk out the victors? Can the Team Charisma super yacht sail into Destiny with an easy victory on the horizon? Or will de Jong and Kingi triumph over the cocky, arrogant duo and send their yacht sailing to Davey Jones’ locker?

For months Elias has hunted his former mentor and tag team partner, “Handsome” Danny Jacobs, to extract a dose of vengeance. Running scared, Jacobs has gone to extreme lengths to dodge the Man Mountain in a one-on-one confrontation. Since the double-cross, the always charismatic Elias has demolished everyone in his path, sending a message to Jacobs that it’s only a matter of time before he’s next. At Unleashed, Jacobs finally gave into Elias’ plea for a match, granting him a one-on-one match at Destiny. Looking to gain himself an advantage, Jacobs announced that the match would also be contested as a Taranaki Tether Match.

Linked together, there will be no escaping each other as Elias looks for redemption over his former mentor. Can Elias remove the chip on his shoulder or will Jacobs prove to the world that he was the master behind the mountain and chop the big man down once and for all?

The reigning Armageddon Cup Champion, “The Peak of Perfection” Travis Banks, will be representing IPW and New Zealand in a cross-promotion battle with current Pro Wrestling Australia Tag Team Champion Brian Seeker!

Fresh off the back of controversial tally counts Australia made during the Olympics, Seeker’s debut in IPW will be impressive if he manages to overcome the intense, fierce competition that personifies the Armageddon Cup Champion. Will the Aussie walk out with the right to claim a win over the “Peak of Perfection” or will Banks send him home in submission to the Lion Clutch as the old rivalry between the Anzacs continues to boil this Saturday night?
