All Impact Pro Wrestling Championships have been declared vacant in preparation for Revival of the Fittest.
The announcement, made earlier this week on the Revival of the Fittest Facebook page, has been met with mixed emotions from the now-former champions.
The guarantee of a new women’s champion does not sit well with Evie, who won the IPW Women’s Championship in a triple threat bout at Destiny last year.
“Vacating the titles is a real slap in the face to those that worked hard to defend them, but I WILL have that title around my waist again,” she tweeted.
Evie will be at Revival of the Fittest, so may have the opportunity to win back her belt and become a two-time IPW Women’s Champion.
Former IPW Champion Travis Banks will not have the chance to reclaim his title, as he will be overseas, training with Davey Richards in St Louis, Missouri, when Revival of the Fittest is held.
“With the news of our resurrection and my championship being declared vacant, it has become a pretty bittersweet last couple of weeks,” he said.
“In a time like this I find it hard not to be frustrated but I sincerely wish everyone the best of luck on July 27th, and when I return from my tour of America, whoever happens to hold my title, I want you to know that I will be coming for you.
“I’ll be back to take what is mine.”
IPW Revival of the Fittest, July 27, Mt Albert War Memorial Hall, from 7pm. Tickets from Eventfinder.
