Tonight has been months in the making for Devin Lockhart. The perennial fan-favourite gets his first shot at the Hughes Academy Championship.
Lockhart earned the number one contender’s position with a win in the annual Hughes Academy Rumble last month, outlasting more than 30 wrestlers from around the country to officially become next in line for a title shot.
It will be anything but easy for Lockhart though as he goes up against reigning titleholder Kenith.
Kenith is no stranger to playing the spoiler and overcoming fan-favourites after beating Kartik to win the title earlier this year. Tonight will be his first defense as champion.
Can Lockhart build on his momentum from the Hughes Academy Rumble and pick up the Hughes Academy Championship? Will Kenith manage to defend the title and send Lockhart back to square one in his quest for the belt?

The Alphalete and That Young Warrior have traded barbs on social media all week, dredging up embarrassing photos from each others’ pasts and even attempting a battle rap to play mind games before the bell sounds for tonight’s clash.

Hughes Academy Live Pro Wrestling takes place tonight, June 18, at Kelston Intermediate School, Vanguard Road, Auckland. Doors open at 6pm with the first match scheduled for 6.30pm. Tickets are available on the door ($10 adults, $5 children). The card, subject to change, is listed below.
