Christmas has come early for Impact Pro Wrestling (IPW) fans, who will be treated to a triple threat for the IPW Championship in New Zealand’s most interactive match: Fans Bring the Weapons.
Brook Duncan and James Shaw challenge reigning champ Curt Chaos for the title Saturday, December 17, at IPW Nightmare Before Xmas.
Duncan and Shaw put themselves on a collision course with Chaos when they improbably registered the exact same time for their matches at last month’s Time Crisis. Rather than have no number one contender, IPW General Manager Alfred Valentine decided both men would share the title shot and challenge Chaos for the IPW Championship.
As if a triple threat for the title wasn’t volatile enough, being held at Nightmare Before Xmas means Chaos, Duncan and Shaw will compete in the annual Fans Bring the Weapons Match.
One of the most unpredictable matches in New Zealand history—and most exciting as a member of the audience—Fans Bring the Weapons is exactly what it sounds like. Attendees are encouraged to bring their choice of weapon (within reason – anything deemed excessive or illegal will not be permitted) to help or hinder Chaos, Duncan or Shaw.
Shaw has been through Fans Bring the Weapons before, while Chaos and Duncan will be wrestling their first match under the stipulation.
“I’m an expert when it comes to these matches,” Shaw said in a statement. “With two wins in this match I am odds on the favourite to win. Let’s make 2017 great this year by having someone end the reign of Chaos for Shaw!”
IPW Nightmare Before Xmas takes place Saturday, December 17, at the Mt Albert War Memorial Hall in Auckland. Doors open at 7pm with the first match scheduled for 7.30pm. Tickets are available on the door. The card, subject to change, is listed below.
