WWE Royal Rumble predictions, preview – NZPWI Roundtable

It’s the most exciting time of the year for the WWE Universe. The Road to WrestleMania officially begins today at WWE Royal Rumble.

In 2024, the competition is as close as it’s ever been. There are no (or many?) clear frontrunners in both the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble Matches.

Last year’s winner, Cody Rhodes, enters the 2024 Royal Rumble, as does the man he eliminated to win the 2023 version, Gunther. Drew McIntyre and Shinsuke Nakamura join Rhodes in pursuing a second Royal Rumble win. CM Punk—in his first televised match since returning to WWE at Survivor Series—bolsters the field of former WWE Champions including Bobby Lashley and Kofi Kingston.

In terms of the 30-Woman Royal Rumble, Bayley, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, and Nia Jax are all former Raw or SmackDown Women’s Champions looking to achieve championship glory once again.

For as many WWE Superstars have been confirmed to enter the 2024 Royal Rumbles, there are even more unknown entrants.

As of press time, just 17 men and 10 women have been announced, meaning almost anyone from WWE’s past or present could take their shot at the WrestleMania main event.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship:
Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles vs. LA Knight vs. Randy Orton

Grady Hooker (82% accurate for 2023):
We’ve seen Roman Reigns take out his opponents so many times that he looks unstoppable. And I’ve seen nothing different from the current three challengers to suggest they might be the ones to conquer The Tribal Chief. They have the added disadvantage of having to deal with each other during the match too.
Winner: Roman Reigns

Steve McCleary (72% accurate for 2023):
I mean, at this point, do we even need to explain the outcome? Solo spikes, Jimmy superkicks, and Roman stacks up his victims.
Winner: Roman Reigns

David Dunn (68% accurate for 2023):
Is this a Fatal 4-Way, every man for himself, or is this a case of Roman Reigns and The Bloodline versus three individual challengers whose egos will stop them from forming any sort of alliance?
Winner: Roman Reigns

Sammy G (53% accurate for 2023):
With no word of Roman’s cousins or The Wise Man being banned from ringside, this match is Roman’s to win! Even without the numbers game, I still acknowledge The Tribal Chief, and The Bloodline!
Winner: Roman Reigns

Jay Marshal:
Roman and the championship have been inseparable for years now. Many opponents have tried to beat The Tribal Chief but he always comes out on top. Roman will sit back and let the other three fight among themselves, then pick his opportunity, secure the win, and walk into WrestleMania as champion, Tribal Chief, and of course Head of the Table.
