Bea Priestley has scored her biggest win since her return to Stardom, defeating World of Stardom Champion Saya Kamitani.
The British-New Zealander bested Kamitani in a non-title bout headlining Sunday’s Five Star Grand Prix event in Hamamatsu, Japan.
The win rockets Priestley to second-place in her Red Stars A Block of the Five Star Grand Prix, trailing only Kamitani herself. As such, the Top Gaijin will advance to the knockout stage of the tournament this Wednesday.
“It feels really, really good to be the first one to beat Kamitani in a very long time,” Priestley said in post-match comments.

“I feel like I kind of remembered what she was like a few years ago but she brought a lot of new stuff too which I wasn’t prepared for, so I would like to have more matches with Kamitani.”
A rematch—this time for the World of Stardom Championship—seems likely but won’t be easy. Priestley dug deep into her repertoire to pin Kamitani following a Queen’s Landing after Kamitani kicked out of Priestley’s signature Plan Bea.
“I think she brings out the best fight in me and I would like to have more time—not a 15-minute time-limit—more time to see who’s the best out of the two of us.”
Prior to Sunday, Kamitani had not been beaten one-on-one in Stardom for almost a year.
Priestley is a former World of Stardom Champion, last holding the title in November 2019.
Stardom Five Star Grand Prix 2025 continues this Wednesday, August 20, from 9:30pm (NZST) on Stardom World.
