New Zealand’s James Raideen makes his iPPV debut today as part of the Evolve 31 event.
The former Zero1 World Heavyweight Champion has left Japan in favour of Florida, and will be part of Evolve’s reboot this weekend, wrestling on three back-to-back events held today, tomorrow, and Monday.
Raideen is scheduled to be part of a round robin challenge—dubbed the “style battle”—alongside Biff Busick, Drew Gulak, and Timothy Thatcher.
“Drew Gulak, Biff Busick and Timothy Thatcher are creating a new wrestling style that is a throwback to the old days of pro wrestling with an emphasis on mat wrestling, holds, strikes and pure wrestling,” Evolve co-founder Gabe Sapolsky wrote.
“James Raideen has used these elements to become the Zero1 Champion in Japan. Who is the best? We’ll find out this weekend in Florida when all four compete in a round robin tournament.”
Raideen takes on Busick—who many fans have tipped as the favourite to win this year’s style battle— at Evolve 31 today.
The Evolve 31 main event pits Chris Hero, the Evolve Champion, against Drew Galloway (formerly Drew McIntyre) in a non-title bout.
Evolve 31 is live today, August 9, from 1pm and is available on iPPV from WWNLive.
