Gunther may have been able to hold off Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but I think CM Punk is an entirely different beast. I wouldn’t be surprised with either outcome here, but I am going to favour Punk.

From the moment he returned to WWE, CM Punk has been derailed by Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. Rollins is injured, McIntyre is occupied with Jelly Roll, there’s finally nothing to stop Punk from achieving his goals.

CM Punk has largely been distracted by personal blood feuds since his return to WWE but now seems poised to claim his first championship in the company since January of 2013. I see Punk pulling off the win, but I also see a certain Architect derailing the Best in the Word.

Gunther has been on a roll of late, beating up an announcer and an old man. Well, there’s one old man he’s not prepared for and it’s someone who just took Cena to the limit. Punk is laser-focused on becoming champion, and history shows that usually works out for him.

The war of words between Punk and Gunther has been an interesting one, but I don’t think Gunther has done enough to get inside to head or under the skin of CM Punk. In the bigger picture, even though he’s currently sidelined, the promise of Seth Rollins keeping the title away from Punk lingers in my mind, and that will play out somehow to Punk’s detriment, and in Gunther’s favour.

Rhodes got blindsided in the lead-up to WrestleMania, but everything’s on the table in a Street Fight. Knowing what to expect—anything!—should go a long way towards a win for The American Nightmare.

I still feel like this match could go either way. Will we get the real John Cena, will we meet the real Cody Rhodes? Who does the street fight stipulation favour? And who’s willing to do whatever it takes to win? By s hair, I’m going with the real Cody Rhodes.
