Sammy V takes Rufguts to limit at Slam City

Sammy V has been on the road to an SCW Championship match for the better part of a year, and now the “Human Forklift” finally reaches his destination at Slam City IV.

Tomorrow night’s event, held at Redwoodtown School in Blenheim, will see Sammy challenge “Rufguts” Roddy Gunn for the title.

Sammy has been the number one contender to the SCW Championship since defeating D-Mack and Justice Sharpe at Slam City 3 last year, but was leapfrogged in the title picture by Rufguts, who took the belt from “Lethal” Lazza Stevens earlier this year.

Now, as Slam City IV approaches, Sammy finally has a chance to get the match he’s been entitled to for the last year and claim the SCW Championship.

Sammy was forced to defend his number one contender’s position against Kade Morgan earlier in the year, with Rufguts unable to appear at Marlborough Mayhem for a title bout.

The “Human Forklift” was able to overcome Morgan and remain next in line for a title shot when he hammered the third-generation star with a big spear tackle.

Can Sammy do the same to Rufguts in Saturday’s main event and leave Blenheim for Nelson with the SCW Championship around his waist?

Also at Slam City IV, Johnny Idol gets his hands on “Dream Catcher” Phil Woodgate.

Woodgate and Rufguts have been thorns in the side of the younger members of the NZWPW roster, like Idol, since they banded together as the ironically-named Nobodies earlier this year.

Now Idol, a former NZWPW Champion, has Woodgate to himself, one-on-one.

Will Idol’s expertise inside the ring make this the one-sided affair it appears to be on paper; or can “Dream Catcher” turn this journey down south into a nightmare for Idol?

KPW Women’s Champion Scarlett defends her title for the first time at Slam City IV.

After defeating long-time champ Nurse Payne at Halloween Howl 7, Scarlett looks to be a fighting champion when she defends her title against Peyote – an occasional member of the NZWPW roster, making for a truly inter-promotional bout.

SCW Slam City IV takes place this Saturday, November 23, at Redwoodtown School in Blenheim. Click here for a map. Doors open at 6pm with a bell-time of 6.30pm. Tickets are available on the door ($10 per person). The card, subject to change, is listed below.
