Former Impact Pro Wrestling New Zealand Heavyweight Champion Reuben de Jong is making New Zealand proud after being signed to a WWE Development contract.

The 6”10, 140kg monster flew out to Tampa, Florida following his last IPW appearance at New Year’s Bash in January to begin his training in Florida Championship wrestling.

de Jong is now listed on FCW’s official talent roster at under a new moniker, “Russell Walker” at

de Jong’s trainers from IPW were contacted today for comment and said that they “are very proud of Reuben”.

This accomplishment is a win for de Jong, IPW and New Zealand wrestling as a whole, as this paves the way and opens the doors for many other potential stars in our country who look to further their dreams of becoming a WWE Superstar.

Reuben de Jong won the IPW New Zealand Heavyweight Championship from “Te Tahi” Vinny Dunn last May at IPW Genesis, is a two time New Zealand Strongman Champion, has competed in K-1 kickboxing and is known for his television work on Spartacus: Blood and Sand as Theocles. de Jong also holds the Guinness World Record for running through the most panes of glass in less than one minute.

NZPWI would like to congratulate Reuben de Jong for accomplishing his dream of becoming a WWE Superstar and wish him the best of luck.
