WWE Tag Team Champion Big E is looking forward to today’s NXT TakeOver event but might have to watch it after it’s aired.
“I don’t know if I’m going to see it live,” he admitted. “I just got home and my power is weird. For some reason half of the house, the power doesn’t work, so my internet is down as well. But I will make sure whenever that comes back on to watch [NXT TakeOver: The End].”
Big E will be paying close attention to the historic steel cage match between Finn Balor and Samoa Joe, and well as the NXT tag team title bout between American Alpha and The Revival.
The former NXT Champion always keeps an eye on the NXT brand, whether there’s a TakeOver event or not, and has a particular soft-spot for Full Sail University.
“Little-known fact: [Xavier] Woods and I had the first match in that building’s history,” he revealed. “We shot a pilot that I don’t think ever saw the light of day, to test the cameras and see how that building functioned, and we were the opening dark match in that building. It’s very cool to look back and think we were the very first wrestling match ever in Full Sail history.
“I’m immensely proud of how far NXT’s come. It’s such a hot product that I’ve seen grow immensely since I was down there. It’s one of my favourite things to watch. I’m very excited about not only TakeOver tonight but about the future of NXT as a whole.”
In addition to NXT TakeOver, Big E spoke about being part of The New Day, the story behind the five-count he used in WWE NXT, his relationship with New Zealand’s Reuben de Jong, and more.
The full interview will be available on NZPWI tomorrow.
WWE NXT TakeOver: The End airs live today, June 9, from 12pm NZST on WWE Network.
