A meet and greet opportunity with WWE Superstar AJ Styles drew hundreds of fans to Westfield St Lukes last week.
Two-hundred fans queued for hours—with some believed to have camped out overnight—to secure a wristband for the first public appearance by a WWE Superstar in New Zealand in more than nine years.
Styles arrived to fanfare at the shopping centre at approximately 3.30pm on Wednesday, August 10. He delivered a brief interview before posing for photos and signing autographs.
Styles spoke of his first WWE appearances at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 32, and guaranteed a show-stealer with John Cena at Vector Arena later that night.
“I don’t have any tricks,” he said, “I’m just going to go out there and beat up John Cena like I always do … I gotta say, John Cena’s one of the biggest names in pro-wrestling today so I guarantee you it’s going to be a great match.”
Photos from Styles’ appearance are available on the Westfield Auckland Facebook page: facebook.com/WestfieldNZ
Styles last visited New Zealand in 2012. He attended a training session with Impact Pro Wrestling (IPW) and met fans in a public appearance at Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour.
